Pëllumbas Cave

Pëllumbas Cave is a natural karst cave located in the Skorana Valley near Pëllumbas village in Tirana County, within the boundaries of Dajti National Park, and classified as a natural monument of national and international significance.

Dimensions and Formation

The cave is around 360 metres long, with a width ranging between 10 and 15 metres and a vertical extent reaching 45 metres, containing naturally formed passages and rock cavities.

Historic Significance

The site’s significance stems from traces of ancient human presence dating back to the Palaeolithic era, and it was previously home to the extinct cave bear, which lived in the area between 10,000 and 400,000 years ago.

Visiting

The cave can be reached via a natural walking trail from Pëllumbas village, and guided tours are organised to safely explore its interior.
