Đurđevi Stupovi Monastery, Berane

Đurđevi Stupovi (literally “Towers of St. George”) is a historic Orthodox monastery near the town of Berane in northeastern Montenegro (not in a town called “Brani” as previously stated in error).

Founding

It was built by the feudal prince Stefan Prvoslav, ruler of the medieval Budimlja region and nephew of the grand prince Stefan Nemanja, in 1213 on the left bank of the Lim River, as his own religious endowment.
