St. Nicholas Church, Ulcinj
After the end of the Candian War in 1670, a mosque was built at the northern entrance to the old town in the municipality of Ulcinj. It was named the “Town Centre Mosque.” After the Montenegrin conquest of the town in 1880, the mosque fell into disrepair. In the following decade, St. Nicholas Orthodox Church was built on the mosque’s site in honour of the souls of the heroes who fell in 1878 during the liberation of Ulcinj.
