Durmitor National Park

Durmitor is a national mountain range located in northern Montenegro, whose true gateway is the town of Žabljak (not Rozaje as previously stated in error), the highest town in the Balkan region, at an elevation of 1,456 metres.

A UNESCO-Listed National Park

Durmitor National Park was established in 1952 and spans 39,000 hectares of dense pine forests and towering limestone peaks. The park holds 17 glacial lakes locally known as the “mountain eyes,” the most famous being the Black Lake (Crno Jezero).

Genuine Wildlife

The park holds genuine, varied wildlife including brown bears, wolves, chamois, wild boar, deer, and lynx, alongside golden eagles soaring over the valley edges, and 163 species of birds.
