Gjeravica Peak

Gjeravica (also spelled Đeravica) is a mountain peak within the Prokletije range (Albanian Alps), rising 2,656 metres, the highest peak lying entirely within Kosovo’s borders. It is located in western Junik Municipality, near the border with Albania.

Mountain Nature

Gjeravica is known for the chestnut trees growing on it, and for wild strawberries that appear in summer, while pine trees cover the lower part of the mountain. The mountain holds two glacial lakes sharing the same name: the larger at 2,330 metres, and the smaller slightly higher.

Climbing and Hiking

The peak draws climbing and hiking enthusiasts, with trails passing through the two glacial lakes and green meadows before a steep climb toward the summit, with panoramic views over the Balkans. This challenging, rewarding trip usually takes around 8 hours.
