Lake Koman Ferry

Lake Koman is an artificial lake in northern Albania, near the town of Shkoder, formed by the construction of the Koman Dam on the Drin River in 1979 to generate hydroelectric power. The lake stretches through a narrow mountain valley resembling a fjord, and is today one of the most thrilling boat experiences in Albania.

A daily ferry operates on the lake between the towns of Koman and Fierzë during the operating season from 15 April to 5 November, with the journey taking around two and a half hours. The ferry passes between towering rock walls and calm, dark waters, with irregular stops along the way to serve local residents, giving visitors a genuine glimpse into the life of the surrounding mountain villages rather than just a tourist tour.
