• Butrint National Park

 

The park is home to a wide variety of ecosystems and remarkable archaeological sites, making it a popular destination – helped by its proximity to the Greek island of Corfu, which draws many visitors keen to see this striking blend of history and nature.

The park holds more than 1,200 different species of animals and plants, spread across its wetlands, hills, and islands.

Its archaeological site is a major draw in its own right, spanning more than 2,500 years of history and including the old city walls, the remains of a Roman theatre, and a Byzantine church.

• Kruja Castle

 

Kruja lies north of Tirana and is a scenic, peaceful town, home to historic sites and enchanting natural scenery. The town’s castle served as the centre of the rebellion against the Ottoman Empire during that era.

Today it houses the National Skanderbeg Museum, along with a remarkable 15th-century church within its walls, as well as the remains of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror’s mosque and its minaret.

Himare, a bilingual region in southern Albania, sits between the mountains and the Ionian Sea and is part of the Albanian Riviera.
